Dr. Inderpal Randhawa is the Medical Director of Pediatric Pulmonary, Clinical Immunology & Allergy at Miller Children’s Hospital – Long Beach Memorial. With over two decades of experience, Dr. Randhawa has dedicated his career to advancing the treatment and understanding of complex respiratory and allergic conditions in children.
Dr. Randhawa has led numerous initiatives recognized both regionally and nationally. His pioneering work includes the establishment of specialized centers such as the Sickle Cell Pulmonary Center, the JCAHO Asthma Center of Excellence, and the Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia Center, all contributing to Miller Children’s Hospital’s national ranking by U.S. News and World Report.
Dr. Randhawa is the Founder, CEO, and Chief Medical Officer of the Translational Pulmonary & Immunology Research Center (TPIRC), based in Long Beach, California. This nonprofit organization integrates cutting-edge technologies such as applied mathematics, data analytics, biomarker development, and artificial intelligence to advance treatments for orphan diseases.

Dr. Lida Mohtasham is a pediatric pulmonologist who joined LAHA/TPIRC in September 2021 and Miller children’s Hospital in July 2022.
Dr. Mohtasham She completed her pediatric pulmonary fellowship at pediatric pulmonary division at Jackson Memorial Hospital at Miller school of Medicine, University of Miami and joined the division of pulmonary and sleep medicine at the Children Hospital of Philadelphia in 2008 as attending physician and took care of the most complicated pulmonary cases in general pulmonary Medicine, Asthma, cystic fibrosis, BPD, PCD , ILD, technology dependent children, sleep disorders and pre-post lung transplant patients until 2020
Dr. Mohtasham She has been actively involved in teaching medical students, interns, residents and fellows . She graduated at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical sciences in Tehran, Iran.

Dr. Stathos completed his Fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology at Miller Children’s Hospital in collaboration with the University of California-Irvine. He pursued his Pediatrics Residency and Internship at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, where he developed a solid foundation in pediatric care. Dr. Stathos earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2018. Prior to medical school, he completed a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology at Creighton University, equipping him with a robust background in both medical and scientific disciplines.
In addition to his clinical and academic achievements, Dr. Stathos has held several leadership roles, including House Staff Chair and Wellness Coordinator for the UNLV Pediatric Residency. His volunteer work spans various initiatives, including providing free physicals to homeless adolescents and organizing charity events for childhood cancer research.
Dr. Stathos has presented his research at national and international meetings, including topics such as hyperthyroidism and pediatric endoscopic procedures. His published work, featured in journals like the Journal of Pediatric Surgery and the Journal of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, reflects his dedication to advancing pediatric care.

Dr. Foley is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in pediatric pulmonology and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
She graduated from New York Medical College and completed her general pediatric residency at Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York, followed by a pediatric pulmonary fellowship at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford.
Her practice focuses on the various pulmonary diseases commonly affecting children, such as asthma, chronic lung disease, bronchopulmonary dysplasia from premature birth, cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, chronic cough, ciliary dyskinesias, interstitial lung diseases, congenital lung disease, pulmonary hypertension and chronic ventilator management.

Dr. Penugonda is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in pediatric pulmonology and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
She completed her Pediatric Fellowship at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York. Additionally completing her Pediatric Pulmonary Fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta Georgia.
Dr. Penugonda has 20+ years of experience in pediatric medicine and continues to work with rare disease caused by pulmonary diseases. These disease include: sthma, chronic lung disease, bronchopulmonary dysplasia from premature birth, cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, chronic cough, ciliary dyskinesias, interstitial lung diseases, congenital lung disease, pulmonary hypertension and chronic ventilator management.

Dr. Eliane F. Eakin, MD, PhD, is a distinguished pediatric pulmonologist with extensive training and expertise in respiratory medicine. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, followed by a Ph.D. in pulmonary research from the same institution, where her dissertation focused on the effects of aerosolized amiloride on mucociliary transport.
As a board certified pediatric pulmonologist, her career has various academic appointments and administrative roles, including Division Chief of the Cystic Fibrosis Center in Jackson Mississippi.
In addition to her clinical duties, Dr. Eakin is dedicated to medical education, having taught and mentored numerous medical students, residents, and fellows at institutions across the United States. She has also contributed significantly to pulmonary research, with presentations at prestigious conferences and publications in esteemed medical journals.

Dr. Omar Yamak, M.D. a respected Allergist completed his Allergy/Immunology Fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Michigan/Detroit Medical Center and his General Pediatrics Residency at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters/Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Yamak earned his Medical Doctor degree from American University of the Caribbean, School of Medicine and holds a Bachelor of Science in General Biology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
Dr. Yamak’s research interests include the clinical markers for anaphylaxis and the impact of severe asthma biologics. His work has been published in prestigious journals such as the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. He has presented at national and international conferences, highlighting topics ranging from atopic dermatitis to food protein-induced enterocolitis.
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
Sunny, a certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) graduated from Barry University. Sunny is passionate about providing personalized care and support to our valued patients.
Before embarking on her journey as a Physician Assistant, Sunny earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Neurobiology and Physiology. This strong foundation equipped her with a deep understanding of human biology, further enhancing her ability to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to our patients.
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
Karolina completed her Master of Medical Science, Physician Assistant Program degree at Chapman University in Orange, California. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York.
Karolina is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care for children with a range of respiratory conditions. Her passion is to help patients return to the everyday activities and childhood experiences they enjoy most. Her clinical interests include patient education, chronic disease management, and promoting wellness through personalized treatment plans.
When she is not working, Karolina loves being outdoors! You’ll find her surfing, cycling or hiking.
Our Pediatric pulmonary fellowship offers a 3 year program in which our fellows receive hands-on clinical training, engage in cutting-edge research, and develop expertise in the management of a wide range of respiratory conditions affecting infants, children, and adolescents.
